I modded my tunze today

The Manual for the 6000 stream hints that one could get more flexibility with a PVC angled extension - page 7 - I have never seen any threads about it - but maybe there are some. Anyway I went to the hardware store - got 1.5 inch angles that have a very close inner dia with a little adjustment, dremeled out the inside a tiny bit to fit the tunze outflow to get to a friction fit, and otherwise roughed the outside to better allow pretty algae to take hold and am very happy with the results -

it allows me to finally get the stream on the back glass - even after installing the tunze magnet to stream extension part I could not get the angles I wanted.

it allows me to get the stream lower to avoid sucking bubbles and being able to point upward a bit more

Looking good! I looked it up in the manual and it looks like you applied this solution the right way.

I have mine set on high/low tide, day night w/ the photo cell and the fish seem to love it. If you have a school of fish, they will face the current looking for food and playing.....cool.

Ever had your Turbelle Driver alert sound go off? I did and fixed the problem....great feature!

I clean my streams with white vinegar and water maybe every 4-5 months. I leave them in a bucket for 2 days and brush all the crap off...comes off real easy.

Tunze products are the best.

What would you guys recommend on the streams for a LPS 50 gallon reef tank? My measurements are 30x18x22 tall. Where is the best prices to purchase them?
Thank you

That is great. Now to hide that fitting so it isn't so obvious, get a black Sharpie or Marks-A-Lot and just color the fitting until you can't see white any more.

Wow! That plus a Tunze deco rock and some coraline growth and you would never know there were streams in a tank! Now there's another project for me to do :D

If you want Georg Fisher PVC Technik makes the correct size fitting and they can be had in the USA, it is 50mm, comes in the grey schedule 80 only, clear might also be available. The stuff is expensive. If you know any pipe fitters from heavy industry they probably use GF products as it is the standard in double containment for toxic and hazardous material piping.

Thanx rvitko....that's a bit too unclear!!!

Can you spell-out all the websites and specific links to make this solution work???

I don't condone the use of "...get a black Sharpie or Marks-A-Lot and just color the fitting until you can't see white any more..."

That's too risky...too many chemicals in the water...

you can use the purple primer to change the color of the pipes. I've done it before and I have never had any problems.

I wouldn't recommend it unless Randy Holmes Farley (RC's chemistry expert) already signed off on it, and he did. I've used this method myself and it works wonderfully.

Buying black fittings would be nice, or painting it with purple primer is another option.

Only Spears makes Black PVC so doing as melev suggests is about the only option. We get our black PVC from Spears. Georg Fisher is a Swiss company that makes very high end PVC plumbing, you won't find it at a hardware store as it is like what they would use at AMD to pump HF through to etching machines, it is expensive and way overkill, mainly designed for extreme industrial use. I would try a google search but expect a 50mm 45 elbow in either clear or grey might cost $30. I know about the stuff from a friend who was a union pipefitter at Motorola and anything like HF or H202 30% has to be plumbed with their double containment system (a pipe within a pipe, outer one clear so leaks can be spotted) Champion Lighting used to sell their check valves and may be able to help. I only suggest GF because I know you can get it in the US and I don't know of anyone else who sells metric PVC in America.
