i have a 50 gallon corner tank. today my POS odyssea metal halide with everything the metal halide and blue lights went out. i thought it was the bulb so i bought a new one and still dont work. so instead of screwing with fixing it i guess im goin to have to buy a new one. what do you recommend? i am new at this and dont know much about the differences. also if you have a light setup for sale let me know what you got and how much. thanks

i am not really familiar with the differences in lights. i am new to saltwater but i havent had any probs with it so far.

Contact MArk at TheReefStop.com and talk to him about what you would like. I'm sure he can help you find something.

Be ready to pay more for a new one than your last one. There is a reason why that one was inexpensive.

i didnt choose the last one. it is what came with the setup. see i am trying to find something similar to what i had without spending a ****load. i keep finding the power compacts cheap. are they any good?

It depends on what you're planning on keeping. They're fine for fish and some softies but there are better choices.

The fixture that you have is known to be pretty poorly made. If you know enough to take it apart and either test the capacitor or have it tested you may find that to be the problem. Many of those units have caught fire because of the capacitor and they seem to go out fairly frequently, even on newer units. Replacing it may be just what you need.
