My landlord sent me a letter telling me they will be treating the apartment complex for termit. They say to remove food from the frig, seal them with plastic bags or remove them from the apartment and ect and leave the apartment complex for 32 hours... Now my issue is of course my 65gal tank. I was thinking about relocating the corals, fish and most of the liverock for a week or 2, but leaving the tank itself half full of water and my sandbed. I was thinking about wrapping the openings of the tank(top and plumbing) with the plastic sheets they sell @ Publix for wrapping food and and vegetable. I wanted to leave the tank because i didn't want to mess with the sand bed. Please let me know what you think.

Hi, I have not gone through that, yet. However, if you search here for "tent fumigation" or similar, you will find a few good posts. Good luck...

That sucks. Honestly, I wouldn't want to risk it. That posion stuff seeps into everything. I remember when I had a huge flea problem, no matter how much I sealed away some stuff, it still got into it. I can't imagine some professional grade posion.

So IMO, if you can, get a couple buckets and put everything in it. Take the tank and leave it in your car. Leave the livestock somewhere save for as long as you need to. Bring back whenever. Profit.

Short version of what young reefer said you basically seal your tank and sump with seran wrap and tape. Put a air pump with air stone and put the pump OUTSIDE. Thats the jist of it. But research it yourself for the full details.

Agree 100% with Necrio- My 2 cents, if you have a place to put it, I would move it with all contents. You may have a mini-cycle but I would get it out of there for a few weeks. Why? That stuff will be in the air ducts, vents, floor, dust, etc etc. It will be flying around for some time. Just a little bit of bacteria killing pesticide and your tank will crash for sure. Yes, You may have to change your sand if it is really dirty when moving it but better not chance leaving it there unattended for 3 days in a green cloud of poison... If it was a 150gallon it may be a different story as you need a village to move it. Use this time to clean your sump and redecorate, get rid of fish you do not want because you could not catch them, and any unwanted weed corals. You can add new fish as they will not be as territorial. Just my opinion. Grab a couple guys from FMAS to assist. Count on about 4 hours of heavy lifting. I will help if my schedule permits.

Thank you for the suggestions. I was searching the web for solutions that wool help me avoid moving the tank itself, because I didn't want to change the sanded. I found that some people had success removing their livestock and sealing their tank with plastic sheets and ductape. I ask thinking about removing my sump as well. Even thought the apartment will be tented for 30 hours,I could leave the tank sealed for longer without the livestock that absorb the oxygen, Then do a 75% water change before putting the livestock back in. What do you guys think?
