Are these Anthelia????? I originaly thought they were aptasia, but I am told they don't have the little fingers on the tentacles. Then I thought they were Hydriods, but a few people thought they were Anthelia. So can anybody tell me what they are??? They are very tiny only about 1/8" from tip to tip.

What should I do? You can see they are on my Favia colony. Should I take it out and Dremel them off? Or try to cut a small piece of rock off with them on it? Or is there another way to separate them from my Favia? I tried kalk paste and Aptasia X when I thought they wre aptasia and that didn't work. Maybe boiling water?

Its definetly anthelia, I would just leave it alone, They are a pretty coral when you have it in a large colony and they don't sting much, but you will have to keep it scraped back so it doesn't spread too much. No need to dremel it or anything like that either, this type of coral just peels right off the rock.

I have the same stuff. It doesn't seem to hurt anything, it just grows really fast and hates light. It grows on the underside of all my rocks.

I have Anthalia that is larger. At first I didn't mind it, and my LFS would buy it from me. It has become a real pest in my tank though. Mine is very difficult to remove from the rock, and it out competes everythning in my tank except grape calerpa. It is defenitely a nuisance, and I wish I would have gotten rid of it before it spread. Like I said, mine is much larger, so it may be a lot bigger problem than your species. Just thought I would warn you of my experience. Good luck.
