I was wondering if anyone knew about a place that would come out to your house to set up your saltwater aquarium. I live in San Antonio, and I really need some help. Please write me @ adamwick@sbcglobal.net
Some local fish stores may have an inhome tank sevice that could help you out, but i would be very careful about doing that unless you know exactly what equipment and things that you want and need. A lfs is more than likely going to want to sell you several things that you don't need to make a few extra bucks.
Your local reef club isn't very active on here... but you might want to PM some of the people that have posted there and ask them for a recommendation, one of them might even do it (my local club is very helpful)......
Please be polite when asking-- kind of an unsolicited PM. MOst people here are pretty understanding. I'd start it off with... "Sorry to bother you but I saw in the SARC forum that you are in the San ANtonio area....."
I do agree with the first reply. The chances are a LFS rep will try to sell you lots of things you dont need. this is a challenging hobby at times but its not so hard that someone cant learn them selves. Rule # 1 PATIENCE !!!! Rule # 2 see rule #1 Start off by reading as much as you can about reef systems. Get a good working knowledge of the Nitrogen cycle. Read up on the alk calcium thing. Dont use bioballs, get the best skimmer that you can afford. You will save a load of $$$ if you buy good gear from the start.
