Do you have it plugged into anything else or straight to the wall? May need to run the power from a different circuit,or, find whatever else is sharring power on the same circuit and move it; short of making changes to it at the fuse box,and running its own circuit. I know I use to have alot of dark wet walks to the fuse box when I made the mistake of running the toaster and the microwave at the same time! Ahh country living:rolleyes:

Another thing would be to look for anything and everything that isnt grounded and ground it,look thoroughly on all your wires and connections that no rubbing or rusting is occuring causing shorts.Mr.GFI err Minh(:D) might have some good advice to when he sees this.

Hi Justin,
Thanks for replying to my post. I tried to plug it in at different areas in the house using a monster power surge as a protector so i dont know to switch the circuit box. The same result again, the circuit trips again. I open the fixture and check for loose or unground, but they look find. The transformer looks burnt, but thats the way it looks when i bought it. Im so disappointed cuse my first hqi 250 looks so beutiful, but last for only 1 week.

You dont happen to notice any other appliances running at the same time? The ballast could indeed need replacing and maybe a reason it came into your possesion.

Is it the same circuit that is tripping. You should make sure that it's on a different circuit.

Something to consider. You claim that you keep on tripping your circuit. Is your circuit a "breaker"/fuse or a GFCI? If it's a break/fuse, then chances are you have overloaded your circuit. Like Justin said, you have too much stuff hooked up to your circuit or possibly your breaker needs to be replaced.

If your circuit at the fuse box is a GFCI circuit - there is a possibility that you have a short in your box. You can tell if you house have GFCI circuit breaker looking at the breaker. It might have some marking that it's GFCI. Another option is look at your bathroom electrical outlets. If your house is relatively new (1975 or newer) and none of your bathroom have GFCI Receptacles, then chances are your circuit box have GFCI circuit breaker.

If you think your ballast is shot - you're probably better off junking it than trying to repair it. Remember, any electrician / repair person that is good is going to charge you a minimum of 1 hour at $60/hr. You might be better of spending a little more money and purchasing a new ballast. Also as a safety note - be very careful when playing with the inside of the ballast. The capacitor inside one of those thing can retain charges even after you have unplugged them. I don't now how serious the shock will be. Just be careful.

Last - just because a piece of electronic looks burnt - it doesn't necessarily mean it's defective.

Oh - if you suspect anything wrong with you ballast - you really should stop using it. Using a defective ballast is potentially a great way to burn down your house.

Thank you Minh and Justin so much for replying,
I tried to plug the fixture in vary circuit with just the light running alone. Im pretty sure that it the fixture that cause the circuit to trip. I call Aqua medic today,, they are helpful and nice but they dont know wat component is that cause for this problem.i can locate the ignitor, stransformer, the ballast and capacitor. I assuming itis one of this component is at fault, but im dont know how to process of eliminate to know wat to order from aqua medic.
Thanks
Twan
