I need to plumb a tank. Need some pointers...

by that I am thinking using flex tubing for part of the run of the returns then to pvc at the top or somewhere in the middle.

what powerheads are you thinking about using? most won't push alot of head pressure. and if you are going to use lineloc's there are black already. you won't see the white pvc anywhere except in the sump area.

@ joe

I dont think I described it very well, but will have to get some pics of what I come up with. The design sounds good in my mind, will see how it works out in real life. Also, what kind of skimmer were you thinking would fit in the sump?

a larger downdraft skimmer will fit. here is a pic

I found myself some stuff and think I have a plan that will include dual overflows that should be snail proof. total cost so far is about $12. Will post some pics tonight!

the downdraft is for a 250 gallon. aquac, optopus, mrc, euroreef, and many others. depends on you wallet. check online at the rc sponsors

Ok, little late, but heres what I came up with:

first, the overflows....

lines indicate where I will cut slats, will also put screens on the insides to keep snails and whatever else from clogging. They will be adjustable by simply sliding them up or down on the slip joint

returns,

next step is to come up with my return pump and come up with a skimmer that can fit in a 5.5 gal!

I could not find any when I was looking at lowes. If I can come up with them I will use them. Thats why I went with that!
