I never learn... wear gloves

I am the poster child for wearing gloves while playing in the aquarium. Whenever I touch a zoa my fingers swell up for a day or two and then the top few layers of skin peel off. On the days that I don't touch a zoa, I pick up a rock by the bristleworms.

Can anyone suggest gloves? Can I use latex gloves, without powder of course?

I use latex gloves with or without powder and never had any problems,also pickup a pair of the shoulder lenght glove but they're to bulky for fragile work and developed a leak.

these gloves rock. I had the coralife ones but the leaked. These are really good. I have 2 pair I like them so much. Quite comfy when worn long term too.

If you are having reactions like this, definately wear your gloves. I used to have a lot of Euphyllia (frogspawn, hammers, torch) and touched them all of the time. Then I started getting itchy bumps that were bright red on my forearms whenever I touched one. Then the bumps got bigger and the irritation lasted longer. It eventually got so bad that merely having my hands in the tank would cause this irritation.....I didn't even have to touch any Euphyllia.

A nurse explained to me that my histimines kept building up due to repeated exposure and that I needed to wear arms-length gloves whenever I was in the tank. She also told me to always keep a good anti-histimine like Benadryl around just in case I ever sprung a leak.

Your veterinarian can be a good source of gloves as well.

Vinegar helps dissolve the spines. Hot water helps relieve the itch and burning.

For 6 to 9 months, they weren't really all that bad. Then they got worse and worse over time.

I've been stung many o time from various thing in my tank. My arm looked like a bad case of poison oak. Now I'm using these - http://www.thefilterguys.biz/reef_sleeves.htm Seem to work pretty well.

It's not a sting from nematocysts. It's an allergic reaction.

WoW! I'm sorry to hear so many people having such an issue. I've never had one issue and I have never worn gloves. Heck the only reason I've ever put any kind of glove on was just to keep grease off my hands. I've brushed, touched, picked up and moved my frogspawn as well as every thing else in my tank and had no prob. Bristolworms have yet to spine me, although my best friend, they spine him everytime he touches one.

i have 2 perclula clown that are nasty , i can not put my hand in without being attached. drummereef suggested these disposable gloves. i do not show reaction to coral like others,but i was wondering if the gloves will protect me from my 2 crazies. thanks . jakleen

I cannot believe that there are this many sissy boys in here. My clowns nips at me all the time. It just feels like a little sting for a second but by no means would I ever wear thick rubber gloves for it
