I/O ran out... Reef Crystals where can I get it.

OK,

So I've just finished my latest batch and I'm thinking it makes sense for me to use a different salt... especially if it helps keep my CA/ALK up when I do water changes.

Anyone sell Reef-Crystals in the San Jose Campbell area? If not can you get a decent/better deal on-line despite the shipping costs?

Any opinions of Reef-Crystal, both negative and positive are welcome.

I don't think you'd get a better deal when shipping costs are factored in. I've seen RC at pet club for a decent deal (I think it was 17.99 for the 50 gallon bag, same size as IO). Personally, I haven't tried it (use 50/50 io/oceanic), but I've heard the parameters are very similar to IO: high alk, low ca/mg.

forster and smith http://fosterandsmith.com has it on sale for $31 for 160g backet. Shipping is also cheap about $9. I'm thinking of ordering 6 backets from them maybe nextweek and for that 6 backets the shipping is only $17.

pet club on blossom hill and snell,I/O is only 10 or 11 bucks a bag,reef crystals are like 13-14 when theyre on sale reg price is a buck more. The absolute cheapest place ive seen so far(except internet). Their tank prices are cheap too,I got a 55 for 70 bucks there

Don't know where to get RC but if you want to buy IO, go to petsmart.com and print out the online price. Go to the store and they will match the online price. No need to pay for shipping ..

I too order my all the time from Fosters and Smith. I get those large 5 gallon buckets for about $30. If you time it right when you need other items, the shipping is ridiculously low. (like a net add of about $3). I usually throw a bucket on any order to take advantage of the shipping discount. Better yet, no sales tax!

Thanks for all the input. I think I'll give RC a go. Probably order from the Doc as it means I only have to lug the bucket from my doorstep and not from the trunk of the car... don't laugh, I seriously messed my back up once and it's an advantage.

I never had a problem with Petsmart. Foster and Smith is great but they never have a sale when I need salt..

That's why you buy it when it's on sale, because you will ALWAYS eventually need salt!

I bought some RC, and still have most of a bucket of IO. I didn't personally notice any difference. Though, I haven't really tested params in a loooong time either. Most likely, I'll mix and match the salt, since it's made by the same company, but claims RC has more coral friendly elements in it.

PS. I order it from the Docs online, since they don't charge extra shipping for weight!

members show are using RC, how do you like it? does it keep the ca and alkalinity at a good level? i am using biosea right now and i like the salt, only issues being low ca. i was thinking about using a mix of biosea and RC. suggestion?
