I ran out of Bionic a little over a week ago and just too lazy to get more but now I have noticedthecorals are getting better color eachday........could I have been OD'ing the 2 part?

It's a125 and I was dosing one cap of each in the morning and one at night.

Thank you, Rich-

Are you testing Calcium, alk and magnesium, and if so, with what test and what are your readings?

honestly haven't tested but I am noticing maror color changes and the only thingthats different is that I am not dosing the 2 part...I think I will stick with kalk for now and see what happens.

Yes. It is not wise to just arbitrarily add chemicals without testing first. I would at least get a calcium and alkalinity test kit.

I think you should test any time you are dosing anything.

I would agree for a newbie, however I would like to believe that any experienced reefer lets how his/her tank "looks" to be the deciding factor in making changes or adjustments. You have to keep in mind that all of out tanks are different and that no one thing or method will work for any 2 tanks. I myself let my animals let me know when anything is right or wrong.

A color change may be or not be a good thing. That depends on the individual system as a whole. I can say that a color change alone would not spark me to run a battery of tests because in all likely there will be nothing wrong.

Thank you, Rich- [/B][/QUOTE] Rich, U turn them into CALCIUMAHOLICS !
Test the water BRO......................PEACE

Yes, being guided by the animals is best. But when dosing something like b-ionic one should test calcium and alkalinity weekly. The required dosages can change, and Rich has been making other changes to his system.

At the very least, ceasing dosage and noticing changes should spark some tests.

FWIW when my dosing stops or gets messed up I see fairly big swings within a couple of days. I have a LOT of growth going on, though, and voracious demands for calcium in my system.

i find that weird.....as when i ran out, 3 weeks without....my corals started to fade...........also to boot i add 60mls of B-ionic 1 & 2 every morning.....my tank is only 120g, but water volume is around 175g. So i dont think you were OD'n......also depends on the demand in your tank.....i have over 40+ SPS's.

lol I have several SPS but they are all frags now but good growth on them, I also dose Kalk in my top off every night. I am sure your tank has a greater need for calcium then mine does.
