I shared the stage with Randy Rhoads one night

I got to admit to being a bit of a skeptic on the pic Gary. That photo if it was taken in rochester is arguably the most recognized shot of Randy known. As others stated ozzy picked randy up as part of the show routinely. The photo you posted made it all the way to the tribute album after his death.

Though I never saw Randy perform live I had tickets but was grounded at age 12-13 and missed the show at the landmark theatre in sysracuse, had some friends that attended.Ive got pics from the event ,given to me after that show ,hit me up if you ever want to see them. However I dont have a shot of randy being lifted by ozzy.

Yep, been all long time guitar player as well,to this day I still have some jam sessions where local people just sort of get together in no kind of order .Mostly at my camp in the summer all in fun .Some country, rock and metal .It really doesnt matter to me Im down to play with any mix that sounds good and just blend, good times!

I was hugely inspired by Randy Rhodes as a young kid. You really caught my attention with that pic ,an though reservered on the pic am very interesteed to see if it was really taken from the rochester show.

A couple friends of mine (former Roch natives and high school mates) passed this link to me a couple years ago. It's the only findable video/recording of Ozzy with Randy Rhoads- in "Rochester, NY" specifically. Pretty rare. Since they didn't get to make a lot of appearances here in Rochester. Until later albums with Oz's next guitarist (Jake E. Lee, who was actually his 4th solo artist guitarist) (Bernie Tormei(2nd)who initially replaced Randy and Brad Gillis(3rd) were very short term stays)

It's NOT great video quality or sound. But still neat to look back at.

Randy and Rudy stopped down at Art Stock's after this particular gig. This was the one.

Steve- there was some initial confusion in this thread. Todd was thinking of Iron Maiden. And even if Randy routinely climbed onto Ozzy's shoulders word on the street is that few pictures of the two performing live exist. That picture above is very well known and all indications are it was taken in Rochester.
I saw Ozzy's following tour where Brad Gillis replaced Randy.
FWIW I play a Jackson Soloist. I like wide radius necks. Jeff Beck was more of an influence on me than Randy Rhoads.

Abit late on response here but thought if you were still interested in confirmation theres a website dedicated to RR run by some members of his familly as well as a few members of quiet riot whitch Randy left to join Ozzy.
I tried to find out but you have to join to post there.

Personally I think your right now about where the pic originated. From unconfirmed sources i was recently told the pic for the tribute LP came from the Rochester show and the recording was remastered from a Cleveland Ohio show.Just what I heard though.

Yeah , the show I saw ozzy in was with Brad Gills too -think 83 syracuse war memorial show.It was ok,but I would have loved to see RR though.
Just as well I remember some of those local bands you guys were mentioning 805 played here quite often, alec star,NY flyers ,benny mardonas.Duke jupiter ,Ha! Ill drink to you is still a good song, imo.

Anyway, like I said Gary I was 13 and at that age Randy was very inspiring to me then.By no means today is that the case ,taste in music changed amongst other things ,its all good though.I have a few guitars but love my G ibson les paul the most.Acoustic ,I have a decent yamaha nothing special.

somehow this all ties together:

I had a BEAUTIFUL Gibson Les Paul. Up to the point I purchased my Gibson I had been playing Strats. The first tune I started playing on that Les Paul was 'Crazy Train'. I ended up selling the Les Paul for cash to purchase Tim Black's chiller for my aquarium. (Tim is the guy with the wall of bamboo in my pool privacy thread!)

Getting rid of my Les Paul was a huge mistake. Ditto for selling my Mesa/Boogie MKIV amp.

Yeah that's a great amp.I can understand your regrets on selling that gear.I got lucky and got my les paul from my uncle.

Not entirely revelant but somewhat fits the thread here. The drummer for the band "Staind"is from weedsport -port byron area. His brother Angelo is married to my cousin Crissy.Talking the new drummer as of Nov. 2011.He was the drum tech for the band prior.

Lou Gram ,from the band Forienger is also from Rochester if I remember that right.
