i solved my ph problems........

waverz

Slave to the reef!
I have been noticing my ph goes from 8.2 during the day all the way down to 7.8 at night. In order to stop this problem i build a simple kalk doser that is controlled by my ACII.

Basically all i did was took a old vinegar container and drilled 2 holes in the top. Next i hooked up an airpump to a 1/4 hose ans ran in into one of the holes. I then took another 1/4" hose and ran it to my sump where it is connected to a needle valve.

Now whn my lights turn off the air pump turns on and drips kalkwasser at night, whaaa laaa no more ph swing.

Im gonna set it up so i cannot over dose by telling the ACII to shut off the air pump, if ph goes above a certain value.

I love this DIY stuff!

Better be careful tomorrow you'll probably flood your house with 25 gallons of water or something!

That's basically how I dose my kalk as well. I don't have an airpump to blow air in it though. I just blow in the one end myself and control the driprate with a small airline ball valve and let it drip all night long. Not quite as fancy but it works.

I do the exact same thing. Works pretty well. Though if I ever get an ACII I think I'll do what Waverz did.
Good idea.

I have mine set up with a float switch in my sump, with a back up cut out float switch in the event the first on fails. It is on a 5 gallon water jug using an aqualifter pump instead of an air pump. I have to clean the aqualifter with vinegar about once every 6 months and replace the air line.
