I splurged!

I trust LA DD. any fish that come from LA, quality marine, blue zoo, LFS etc I 100% QT.

But the extra cost for DD livestock is because the livestock has been held at WI facility for 6-8 weeks and would believe they would treat any illness in that time.

LA DD does not quarantine. They acclimate which is highly valuable. Live Aquaria says to quarantine every fish they sell whether from QM or Wisconsin.

i think that's a given and i hope you are successful with it!

This^^^

We wish you nothing but success. However, we also want to help others that may be reading this thread, with additional info about QT'ing, that's all. It's a public forum thread, so you can't really have expectations about the replies you'll get :)

I have received multiple fish from Divers Den with ich and velvet. And I am hardly the only one who has been in this situation. Most avoided the issue with proper quarantine and treatment while others did not quarantine and dealt with the consequences. If you want to risk your embedded base of fish, you can skip the quarantine process. You pay your money, you take your chances.

Don't get me wrong, I feel Live Aquaria is the best or at the very least one of the best and they are the only vendor I order fish from.

Sort of feel that having a system where multiple tanks are connected is a bad idea while quarantining, but makes financial sense.

Even if a fish was held for 4-6 weeks while being treated, when new fish are introduced to the system there is a chance of new disease.

QT everything, even if it has been "quarantined".

That being said the one time I dropped a fish right in, it was from Diver's Den. Common Cleaner Wrasse. I was about to hypo the display anyway, so took a chance...

Wouldn't do it again though...

I'd love to keep a butterfly again. I couldn't keep my CBB fat enough so I gave him away. I've seen some really cool butterfly-only tanks. Such great personalities and awesome shapes and colors.

I am sorry if my comment started the whole QT issue - that was the last thing on my mind. I just thought his comment was funny....

Thanks for sharing. Could you share a video of him swimming around? I've actually never seen that kind of butterfly before.

Not a problem at all Brett, didn't think that at all.

Just got home, and lights are dimming down to night, so the video is a bit blue, but can still see her swimming around.

Excuse the shoddy camerawork and the iPhone quality video.[emoji440]

Luckily tinker's are probably the hardiest of any butterfly you can get, all the tinkeri complex are pretty hardy and disease and parasitic resistant. Only other b fly that is in the same ball park are raccoons. Imo. QT in the future my friend. It's one thing to lose one fish, it's even a whole other when your entire display gets infected and then you loss sleep at night.

Recently got a trio of Bartletts from DD. Put them straight into my QT and one of them had ich right from day one. I will say that they were all fat and eating immediately though. When I was first floating them, one of them kept swimming up to the surface in the bag wanting to be fed even. Lol

Beautiful fish!

I QT all fish doesn't matter if it comes from LA DD,QM,BlueZoo,IBluewater or Mother Teresa.

Haven't been on RC for a while. The Tinkeri is still doing great.

Here's a FT shot and some other pictures.

The other main fish in there are Regal Angel and a Multibar, flame angel pair, potters angel, convict tang, fox face, blue jaw trigger pair, yellow eye kole tang and a blue tang.

Yeah, the regal was a very early addition so he assumed the dominant role. He didn't much like the Tinkeri when first added, but it was okay, every now and again he would chase him but nothing too bad.

When I added the multibar however, the Regal was really aggressive with him, with the multibar being so delicate, I decided to remove the regal for 3 months to see if the territories would be forgotten (a friend took him in for me) I added the Regal last week and no aggression whatsoever, the Regal is like a new fish.

I was actually really skeptical that it would work, but it surprised me.
