624 leds over 300 gallons. Hmm.. that's over 1800 watts of led if they are 3 watt diodes. I think you might have gone too far this time.

Do us a favor and at least tell your kids to not look straight up while looking at the fish. Save their eye sight...
 
The transition was slow. I started out with 5 fixtures, then 8 then 12. I created multiple profiles with the apex controller, some with high intensity and some with low. I decreased the photoperiod of the higher intensity profile settings every time I added fixtures in. If I used the same settings and light schedule that I started with and just increase the number of fixtures, I would have bleached the corals a long time ago.

I still have 4 x 110watt VHO super actinic that turn on from 9am to 10am. Really dim now with old bulbs. I am actually putting in 2x54watt t5 retrofits throughout the length of the tank on each side for good measure. I just can't trust myself to go a 100% all leds. At one point I know these leds will wear out. They grow acropora and color them out for sure. Just not certain when they will go downhill. I will probably run the t5s from 9am to 10am for good measure. I know it looks overkill but not all of the leds are at 100%. The Reds and greens are set at 5% most of the day. Whites are also turned down at certain parts of the day.
 
Thanks. It actually looks like I am running 5x400watt radiums on lumenmax elites with lumatek blue ballast. Some people actually mistaken the lighting for halides because there are no shading in the tank. Just the way I intended it to be.
 
It'd be interesting to watch some of the unnecessary bells and whistles like storms and clouds, probably way more impressive than just my one fixture.

I'm assuming you're using Radions on the other tanks? How do you think they compare?
 
I wouldn't have a clue how to do storms or clouds and would never waste my time learning it. Yes I am using Radions on the other tanks. Have a collection going already. The only reason I bought them was because I already have the apex wxm to control them and I have maxed out the number of fixtures I can control with the apex awm. I prefer the ai hydra 52s over radion pros. There is so much more uv and actinic from the hydras and more pleasing to the eyes. I have them side by side and I have tweaked both ecotech and ai settings multiple times.

 
I used 3 AI hydra 52s on the shallow lps/clam tank and they were too much light so I am using 4 ecotech xr15w pros because they are weaker than the hydra 52. Since my rbta loves the radions, I am putting radions on my lps tank.
 
There is this planted freshwater/saltwater 12,000k bulb from current that I will be using to give my tanks "blessing". I don't need any blue bulbs because the LEDs has so much blues already. I just need to make sure that the corals get an hour or 2 of daylight light for photosynthesis. Most people would put halides with some kind of fluorescent blue bulb for supplementation. I am doing the opposite putting white bulb since I don't need the blue spectrum.
 
Question Since you have used more of these lights than anyone else. Does one exceed the other on coral growth and color? As far as say sps and lps is concerned? I see that you prefer the look of the ai, but does it work any better?
