Is this okay? should I reposition it. Looks okay to me but if its harmful I will turn it around. Its only been two days but I think it attached right away.

lol I was wrong it hadn't yet attached so I went ahead and turned it the right way so it wouldn't worry me to death wondering.

I believe crocea stay small enough you can put them in any orientation, but the others get large enough, that placing them upside down can rip out their byssal gland.

Good move; I think Mbbuna has said that it's better if their exhalent siphon is lower than the inhalent. :)

well I turned it around but for whatever reason it doesn't seem to like to be orientated with the small hole higher than the big hole (so technical I know). when I had it backwards it never moved. Now that I've turned it to whats suppose to be correct with the small hole higher than the big hole it scoots down just enough so that its perfectly horizontal. I've tilted it forward a few times and everytime I come back the next morning it moved just enough to be horizontal again. the clams likes it that way but I dont! I want to see mantle not shell!.

Please forgive my ignorance but I haven't heard that you could place them wrong either! Which is the inhalent/exhalent? Or which one is the tube...? I will search now also so don't flame me! :)

let him move where he is comfortable, in doing so he'll open bigger grow faster and look prettier, if you keep messing with him and turning him around hell just stress out and craok, Im trying not to sound like a butt hole so sorry if you took any offense
good luck

no I understand. I left it alone and waited for him to attach to the rock the way it wanted too (I think it was just more the shape of the rock that kept it moving horizontally). after it attached I tilted the whole rock forward and it hasn't moved. Its been days now and the way it is now if it doesn't like where it is I'll know because most likely it will end up in the sand.

LOL I have never heard they need to be placed a certain way. I thought this was actually a joke thread at first, hmmmm very interesting :)

before i clicked on the thread i thought the clam was placed with the mantel down lol i'm glad that wasn't the case
