I think my RO unit is hooked up totally wrong..

Bent

I got nothin'
So, when I first hooked up my RO/DI, I was pretty green to them I didn't know what I was doing.

I went to change the membrane I noticed that most of it was all out of whack and didn't look remotely correct. Plus when I unhooked the membrane I also unhooked a bunch of other lines that I had plumbed trying to trace everything and I'll be danged if I remember where it all goes.

I made a movie here that may help in looking at the unit, just ignore my bumbling commentary and see if you can visualize the way the unit is currently plugged up.

Im not even going to attempt to explain the way it's hooked up now I'll just confuse everybody.

See if watching this video someone can explain to me how this needs hooked up.

Thanks.

hope that helps, it was kinda hard to make out a lot on the video but if you still need more help let me know and ill walk you though it the best I can. we will get ya up and running again either way

Thanks bro.

I'm a moron or something because for some reason i still can't get this working.

I hooked it up and I don't get any product water. Here's the problem. I have two unidentified black things which I am assuming shut the booster pump off when the ASO is triggered.

Here's the pics.

Here's this thing that looks like it is supposed to come out of the product line from the ASO. The left hand side is input from the ASO and the right hand side is output to the product container.

Then there is this thing that is hooked up to the output of one of the carbon block containers. There is an intake only on the bottom and no output. I have no idea what this is?

So I have it set up like so, and it should work?

Supply>solenoid>particle filter>carbon1>carbon2\black box>Booster>membrane.

The membrane outputs go like so:
Waste>ASO>flow restrictor>sink
Product>ASO>weird black box>TDS1>DI>TDS2>float valve/container

There is also a flush kit that seems like all it does is bypass the flow restrictor with a ball valve? Is that right?

Hooked up this way, I get no product water. I get waste, but no product.

i dont think your waste line should be going to your aso... on mine the line coming from the second carbon goes through one side of the aso, and the product from the ro membrane goes through the other..

i dont have a booster, but i believe in your case the output of your booster should go through one side of the aso and then into the ro membrane then the other side of the aso should be the product water from your ro membrane going to your DI.

its REALLY hard to see what is going on with your system though. maybe more pictures that show the whole system would help?

so in your last post it looks like the 1st pic is a pressure switch. the other one I haven't the slightest idea, possiably a auto flush valve, at first I thought a strainer but those don't need electricity. if I were you I would pull that part out till you can at lease get an idea of what it is, it won't hurt your system without it.

Ok I drew this.

That is exactly how it is hooked up now, here's the legend to what I drew:

Pink-supply
Red-electrical
Blue-product
Green-waste

The "unknown black piece" coming off of the "carbon2" is the item in the second and third picture a few posts above.

The "unknown black piece" plumbed into the product line at the end is the first picture a few posts above.

Now, does that help?

One thing you could try is to pull the auto shut off valve out of the system, if you do not need it... My ASO failed shut and did not allow product water to leave.

That's a thought. Though if it was shut it still was making waste water...

Well I tried using this diagram and it didn't work either...

I can make waste water, but not product. Argh.

I don't think I can provide any help. Your RO unit is much more complex than mine, but you sounded so defeated in the video lol. I feel for you. Hope you get it running soon.

Lol. I dunno how to fix it. It should freaking work man. I don't get it.

I'm about to just bypass the booster pump.

Start the flow then start disconnecting lines going backwards from the last till you start seeing water. The last thing you remove is blocking water somehow. Maybe then you can figure out if it's broken or setup wrong

That's a good idea!

I'll try it now.
