so i did a larger then normal water change friday.
about 25%.
water parameters are in check.

i haven't added any fish for over a week. and the ones i added got freshwater dipped before they came in.

then on saturday one of my pumps got disconnected and stirred up a bunch of sediment. it wasn't all that bad though, but the water was cloudy for a good day.

checked the fish yesterday morning, everyone is happy and clean.
last night most everyone, especially the sailfin tang, had a bunch of white dots all over them. i thought that was ich. it was to late to do anything for them, so i just made sure they got a lot of garlic laced food and had nori to munch on.

this morning, no one had white dots on them...
i do have a cleaner shrimp..

soo whats going on? was it not ich?

just finished reading that.
the first cycle where the dots appear should last several days, mine lasted less then 1. and the fish were all very hungry and active, and not nearly as covered as in the picture.

could the white dots have been something else? it only seemed to be on their fins.

With an aragonite substrate, you will occasionally see sand grains adhere to fish fins and body because of slime, presenting an alarming appearance. This has caused me to observe a fish closely more than once, and I've been at this a long time. If it goes away inside half an hour and you don't see a cleaner in action, it's possible you had a sandy fish.

Would be curious to see what your fish look like. My sailfin has the exact same thing going on right now.
