Thanks, Hopefully with more practice (and a lot more reading) I'll be able to take better quality pics.
 
I think you could really help that picture out with some post processing. The colors look a little washed out and don't really pop. If you can take it in RAW format and then use photoshop or lightroom to play around with the saturation hue and luminance of different colors you will get something that looks much more vivid and lifelike.

Just a few suggestions of things I have learned for myself.

To be honest, I liked your first one better. That second one to me looks incredibly fake.

The goal, at least for me, of post processing is to bring out the natural colors of an object, not to make it unrealistic. You make changes to it that just enhance the color but in a mild way, not over the top wow that's brighter than you would ever see in nature.
 
Keep tweaking, practice makes perfect. I'd suggest editing it once a day every day for a week and look at all of your variations afterward. It's a great way to learn. I also strongly agree with Recty's points.
