What?
It's not literally bleached. It hasn't been in ideal conditions and its lost a significant amount of its zooxanthelae (symbiotic, photosynthetic bacteria) that produce most of its food.

im still stuck on the fact that you think buying a bleached anemone is throwing your money away.. or for that matter trying to rescue a creature..
Ive rescued Haddoni's and Gig's that where in way worse condition that this..
as stated yes, a bleached anemone has lost its zoox colony, but in my experience some of the most reliable anemones I've purchased (which has been a lot) ..have been bleached.
ill choose a bleached anemone with a firm stance as this one clearly has.. Over a Vividly colorfully Anemone that looks droopy any day.
and no im not saying hey everyone run out and buy bleached anemones, im just saying people need to look for the right things, and be fully invested into restoring that creature to its full potential.

the only issue I have is this tank is not ready for a Nem. Here is a thread from 1/30/15 on questions about his tank build. I think if this tank has only been if he started it on 1/30 which I doubt then this tank might be 2 months old

I agree. Bleaching is not the end of the world. I also find it funny how people go crazy about an open mouth. Far more telling IME is the "droop" factor. I don't care how tight the mouth is, if the nem is sagging, deflated or unable to support itself, it is in far more serious trouble than if it had a significantly open (not gaping) mouth but was otherwise healthy looking.

You could not be more wrong.
I've brought back several anemones that were bleached out. Two of them were my own H.mangifica anemones which bleached after my heater died and temps dropped to the 50's.
Others were BTA's and LTA's which were bleached out at the store.
As has been already stated....bleached anemones can recover much more easily than sick/infected anemones can be healed.

that nem will get worse and worse in petcos system. I was lucky enough that I walked into petco the night they got em in, so they weren't too bad yet. But 3 days in their system and it's GG for these nems.

I think we need some clarification. Bleached nems can be saved, but it depends on the severity and species. What is interesting to me is that nems that are typically hard to acclimate -- magnifica and gigantea -- seem to gain their zoox back rather easily if they are otherwise healthy. Posture, as previously mentioned, is a key factor.
On the other hand, other nems such as the common sebae anemone are often 100% bleached -- completely white with pinks tips -- and their rate of mortality is extremely high.
This particular gigantea doesn't look severely bleached and should quickly recover -- from bleaching. However, it may still need treatment for a bacterial infection, which needs to be taken into consideration prior to purchase. As we've mentioned in countless threads, if someone is thinking about purchasing a gigantea, they also need to invest in a QT tank -- a 10 gallon tank, a heater, a small powerhead, and Ciprofloxacin -- and hope that they don't need to use it.
Here's a photo of my bleached gigantea when I first purchased it:
And here's what it looks like as of about 5 minutes ago:
The tips that appear white in the photo are actually green.
On the other hand, other nems such as the common sebae anemone are often 100% bleached -- completely white with pinks tips -- and their rate of mortality is extremely high.

Well, if you are going to pick it up on Friday then you will have time to order Cipro and set up a hospital tank before you even get the anemone in case it needs treatment. Be prepared for the worst case scenario.

Minh is right, recently changed jobs. I'm not hurting for money, I've just had things come up this week that needed attention. As far as the thread that was listed above. I was seeking expert advice from uncleof6 who has been building tanks for over 20 years. I tore apart and rebuilt my friends 180/G aquarium. That wasn't my tank. Regarding my tank, everything was transferred over from my previous system. I've had quite a few anemones over the years. I think I'll be fine.
