I want a 90g wrasse reef...

I want a wrasse reef. Ideally, my stock list would include a McCosker's and/or Carpenter's flasher, a Kole tang, lawnmower blenny and maybe a pair of clowns. Clowns are...clowns, they are fun to watch, but wrasses are as entertaining with the constant montion and vibrant colors, I don't think I'd miss the clowns if I couldn't have them.

Could someone give me some realistic ideas for a stock list? The reason I ask here is snorvich doiesn't give recommendation.

90g corner overflow
2 X Jebao RW-8
720 gph return
160# SouthSeas dry rock, split ~110/50 between DT and sump
80# sand, mostly sugar fine
30g sump
Reef Octopus Classic 150 skimmer
165w full spectrum dual channel dimmable Chinese LEDs
DIY (BRS) screen top

Skip the clowns if you want to focus on wrasses. I say go with both the mccoskers and the carpenter, plus maybe a filamented flasher. A melanurus wrasse could be a good addition if you don't mind it going after snails and hermit crabs. Leopard wrasse if you can find a fat/healthy one (also better to add before melanurus or other pod-eating wrasse). You could even add a small fairy wrasse.

Yellowfin and Red Tail flashers are not as common and are beautiful Vrolik's wrasse is very similar to melanarus but I think it's even prettier. Lineatus, flame, hooded and pink margin faries are great too.

Even after a lot of research trying to pick non aggressive wrasses, I've come to the conclusion that they can be downright nasty to each other. Definitely recommend an acclimation box when adding new ones.

We've had pretty good luck with a few wrasses together. At one point we had a carpenter, filamented, lubbocks, candy hog, and another fairy that was labeled 'blue-sided fairy wrasse' (which it most definitely was not, still dont know what species it was despite research either and i dont have a pic for id) sorry lol
Any wrasse of those sorts would be fine together i think.
I also think an aggressive wrasse reef at the cost of a cuc would be cool, but 90s a bit small... Were in the same boat with a 90, no larger cool fish unless you only want 1 or 2...

Just read in another forum that that "mystery" wrasse was an indian ocean variant exquisite...she did great in the tank!

I have an Orangeback, McCoskers and Carpenters - no problems whatsoever. Melanarus is my favorite, but they eat shrimp.
