I want a clam but..

:D I love my Angelfish too much.. :D

I have another tank cycling.. I can put clam in there when it's ready...

How soon can I get them?? 3-4 months or should I wait longer??

Clams are hardy if you have enough light for them and they are not sick in the first place. Once the tank cycle and all the alge resolve, you can put clam in.

I have an 8" squamosa with my 6" Imperator and have for a year. He never even looks at him.

Mar:bum:

i have four clams in the tank with my Emperor .
So far no nipping i have the fish with me now for three years .
But you have to try your self get a large clam from some one and try you know in a hour if he goes after the clam if he does take the clam out quickly.

my lfs has had a 10'' emperator for about a year with no nipping at the corals or the 3 clams in their display tank

Barry came to our club and talked about the clam before. I remember he said about having the clam before and after introduce the fish sometimes make a different.

Did you guys have the clam before the fish??

I had both clam in the tank and then i add a fish, but now was no clams in the tank for a year , I add four clams the last month with no problems , you can check my Gallery for pictures.

check out the reef fish forum. there are countless threads of people asking if they can keep a large angel in their reef. I will actually save you the time of reading the millions of replies- it varies. some people have success, others don't. There is no way to tell for sure. It is a gamble.

I tried putting a squamosa in my 180 as an experiment. The fish in the tank are powder blue tang, purple tang, golden butterfly, neon goby, coral beauty, emperor angel and a black back angel. The only one that harassed it was the black back dwarf angel. Everyone else ignored it. That black back angel sucks. I put some zoos in the tank before to see what would happen and the only one that messed with them was the same dwarf angel. I'm kicking that sucker out of the tank. He is not that pretty anyway. Why should I not be able to keep corals in the tank when the only fish that harasses them is an ugly black and white fish.

LOL

Hey Elite - you know that Emperor Angel I have in my tank at work - it doesn't eat clams but every zoo and gsp. It also has a taste for tearing into hermit crabs and ripping them out of their shell.

I would love to add an Emperor to my larger tank, but not with all those nice clams in there now. That "might' be a very expensive dinner for the angel.

It would be cool if it eats GSP instead other stuff. I have ton of it :D .. The one I have is still small (2-3"). It has not change color yet. It loves brain coral.

My wife wants a clam but like you said I can't afford expensive for a fish :D (no problem for myself though :lol)
