Is there anyone out there thats has any tangs for sale that are four inches or less. if so let me know and we can work something out..

You gotta give us some info...how long in the hobby? How long has the tank been set up? What size tank? What bioload? You can edit your profile to give all your info on experience and current tanks to come up when you post...

Why does he have to do that? Im just curious, should he post his SS# and drivers license as well?
I dont understand.....................

If someone posted that they wanted to buy a motorcycle on a forum, would they be asked if they have their license or how long they have been riding for someone to sell them one?

Don't sweat it- I don't think Craig is signing up for the tang police but just wants to make sure that any fish here will be going to a good and appropriate home.

You'd be surprised how many people I've met who like "Dori" and want to put her in a 12g tank, you know?

Better to be safe than sorry to make sure all of our fishies are happy :)

To the tang end, I've never kept one personally myself because all of my tanks are too small so can't really help you out there, sorry :(

Yes I have.
I used to have a foxface that quickly outgrew my tank. Sure, he had PLENTY of room in there but he'd zoom back and forth and knock stuff over. He wanted to swim and so I found a better larger home for him thats over 100g.

tangs get huge as well and I'd never put one in a 55g. In the wild they can cruise far and fast.. We are only now barely figuring out how to make a tank the righ size and shape to allow for their mating rituals. When I see a tang in a huge tank versus a "just quite large enough to house one".. I see a huge difference in their personality and behavior.

I'm not saying you can't do it, I'm saying that I personally won't do it.

For my 55g I am putting in a latezonatus clown who will basically have run of the tank. Right now she's ~4" or so but within a year or two I'll have my 125g up and going and she'll have that which is probably more suited to her size. Fortunately as a clown she'll have a territory and not be an athletic swimmer so the 55g will do until I can setup my larger tank.

All I was saying before was that Craig is part of ORCA and we are a group of folks who aim to conserve and protect wildlife - in that definition I would think having good husbandry has a place as well- and that he shouldn't be chastized for making sure that whoever is looking for tangs has the proper setup.

That said, if a person wants one bad enough to put them in a small tank they will, but its the least we can do as hobbyists to at least make sure that the knowledge is out there- that its not a flame, a jab, or any other negative thing, just a reminder (or new information if you haven't kept tangs).

so are you wanting to put the four tangs in the 75 gallon tank? You might want to just stay put. That would be alot of tangs in a 75 gallon tank. Is your tang from the keys a doctor fish?? is he a brownish color?

no its not its a doctors fish but its grey and hes only like an inch so its fine to have four smaller tangs. eventually upgrade tanks when they get bigger. or even three ill be happy with..

Ok - so I am a member of the Tang Police

And I have 3 Large Tangs in my Tank - but it is 6' long - so there :p

To answer the original question.
I was in Sea In The City earlier this week. I'm pretty sure I saw a couple juvenile Powder Blue Tangs that looked really cute.

As to used Tangs - no way will I sell mine :D

Just my opinion but unless you plan on upgrading to a larger system (at least a 150g) in the near future, I think it would be a mistake to put in another tang, especially with a sailfin as they tend to be pretty aggressive as it is and tend to grow rather fast as well. Ideally I would wait till you had the larger system up before adding more tangs.

Well when i see Tangs in the Ocean i notice they are much happier than being in say a large tank at Seaworld or the Atlanta Aquarium, but yet we still have these fish in our home aquariums. I hear where you are coming from but no matter what size the tank, it comes no where near close to being the Ocean. We have to draw the line somewhere, and IME a yellow tang does fine in a 55 gallon long, but thats just me.

I know of a kole tang thats for sale just let me know or pm me, thanks.

Well, I think it was good to ask about his tank.

1. Size of tank can determine what type of tang.
2. How long the tank has been setup and how long in the hobby would determine if I was going to sell my tang to him.

So I would think good questions. Otherwise, he can go to a LFS:)

I don't have any for sale though. I would just check out some of the local stores as they generally have a nice variety. Generally here, when fish are going to be sold, they post it pretty quick.

I just saw the amount of posts and have seen way too many people coming on complaining that their fish aren't doing well, while putting fish in a week after the tank is set up and putting it in an aquapod...I meant no disrespect and I did not mean for the police of the tang police to come site me for being an enforcer of tang "laws" :)...hey, I'd rather someone have the correct knowledge and have 10 other people diss me for being conciencious(I probably murdered the spelling) than have that one person have a bad experience and leave the hobby forever.

Now that I know you have been in for two years, you will not hear me utter a peep telling you that you "can" or "can't" do something. Heck, I didn't even take it that far, just mentioned that specs would help a person decide if you are capable to house their fish...with that few posts, people automatically assume(as did I) that you may be new and just interested in tangs without the proper knowledge or background on reefing. Again, my apologies for being a moral judge, but sometimes it needs to be done(not in this case per se).
