I want seahorses in my dorm. opinions?

nope, no thread...just random pix. i don't think there are any showing the guppies tho. the guppies were actually some that switched to SW when they weren't eaten by a scorp we were weaning to frozen, so we popped them into the NC12.

thanks everyone!!
you have all helped out a ton!!
I think i'll wait till i'm in my dorm for a couple months to decided if i want a saltwater tank.
I decided that if i dont get salt water aquarium i'll at least get myself some kind of easy care fresh water fish, then start a salt water tank when i'm in a more stable home with more time on my hands!

welll u are wrongly informed about hand feeding seahorses. at least mine wont eat it while I'm holding it lol they are too spoiled.
honestly best pet/aquarium would be a small tank with 2 clown fishes.

take care of adding top off and .... for now, and u will have lotd of fun with 2 clowns, and u can hand feed them and they are easy to take care of. if u pass everything, get ureself an anemone next semester ;) lol

Just be careful they are a lot of work. It may be hard to give them the amount of time/feedings they need while going to school. Yes you may be able to swing it, but swinging it doesn't provide the horses with the care they need. I'd suggest a small reef tank, hell maybe even one of those pico tanks....

being in college myself and im studying biology as well, I dont have the time to maintain a tank. there is a lot of work that goes into it and you just wont have the time to do it. I go to school full time, work part time, and im lucky if i have an hour to hang with friends. after your freshman year if you think you can handle it give it a try, but i wouldnt even think about it freshman year. By the way i ended up gettting a goldfish because its easyer than saltwater, and i never even really found time to do water changes and ended up getting rid of the tank. Plus your roommates will proabably get drunk and doses your tank with vodka.

I didn't want to mentioned that part. considering you ***ALL*** are underage drinker.:frog: Unless you live here, you are allow to start on beer at 16.

lol good point puffer.
i'd much rather have time for my horse.
she is my life and if a tank took away from my time with her i'd be ready to give it away.

well the way i leander was whatching my dad do all of his stuff ween i was 10 i remember my first fish tank as i grew up i saw that having a fish tank gave you a good leseon of responsabiltie

Dwarf seahorses can EASILY be housed in a 12G. But there is a lot more to look at. Like a modified sponge filter, less power than most saltwater lighting and water movement, live brine shrimp hatching. A lot of work for little creatures but I LOVE them!!! Breed like rabbits too!
