I want something BLUE

When I say BLUE I mean popping bright solid blue. Best example is a hippo (regal) tang..... but they get a bit big for a 150 (5x2x2)..... and get big quickly.

Damsels fit the profile too - virbant blue - but they are just little packets of spiteful vengeful bile in terms of their temperment.

So...... suggests please :)

Yellow tail blue damsel... small enough to not be a PITA, unless you have really passive fish. Starkii are nice too, just not sure of their attitude...

I've seen a blue chromis before. Solid blue like a damsle, but peacful like a blue-green chromis! It's on the bigger side too, 4 or so inches. There is also the chalk bass, and the cherub pygmy angel that come to mind. Good luck!

African flameback pygmy angels are also a brilliant royal blue, accented with golden-yellow (much like many damsels). I've never kept them, but since they're part of the C. argi species complex I'd assume they can be pretty territorial and aggressive, too.

I just put a flameback angel in my 40 breeder a few weeks ago. It's more of a deep purple with the edging of the lower fins being a bright neon blue. Striking fish for sure. So far no aggression issues, but it has developed an odd relationship with my melanurus wrasse. It follows the wrasse all over the tank.

Another blue fish choice - a group of chalk bass.

Thanks for the suggestions folks.

-Powderblue - had one before. Lovely fish, but just not what I am looking for.

-Flameback - I've got a coral beauty pair already. I know the flamebacks are tough, but don't wanna risk it.

-Assessor - maybe, that makes teh short list.

-Yellow tailed blue damsel - maybe..... just maybe though.

-Blue chromis - anything like green chromis..... 10, 9, 8,......3, 2, 1? A lone ranger chromis always seems "sad" to me :sad1:

Any more suggestions?

The blue chromis is bigger than the blue green, and just a royal blue color. Looks like a giant streamlined jewled damselfish! The blue chromis I saw was a single. I also have a single blue-green with a scooter blenny in a 46gal. Honestly, I've never seen my chromis more happy! Although I did have a butt-head damsel I got rid of which promted the chromis to come out more. I know what you mean though, and I think two or three of the blue chromis would be good in a 150 :)

How about a nice Solor wrasse (C. solorensis) Mine is as blue as a fish gets and gets comments all the time.

Electric blue sides with a navy blue back plus the bright colored head sets it off nicely. They get to be a nice size (so you can see them) and they are out and about most of the time. I would also recommend that you see the actual fish before you purchase it because colors can vary. Here's a link to a LA photo.

A second vote for the starki. Mine is 3" now and doesnt bother any other fish. I would also look at the azure too.
