but for best information try reading the fairy wrasse thread at the top of the forum.

By the way, I have Scott's, Flame, Rhomboid, Earle, Johnson, Lineatus, Rubrimarginatus, all in pairs or harems.
Absolutely awesome! I am so jealous..LOL;) I did'nt know Mr. H.Tanaka was also knowledgable about angels...that is great!

When I ordered from Reefhotspot all fish came in excellent health. Max already had the tiny juvi flagfin eating pellet food and it has now tripled in size. Overall excellent quality for the fish I received and the picture of the fish was the fish I got.

snorvich: Quite a few angels do really well in tanks like yours.

Thank you waterfaller,

I have been keeping angelfishes (for over 32 years) and faires & flashers (for some thirteen years). I am very interested in angelfishes and made a species list in mid 1970's, that is still growing by adding new species (the latest is Centropyge abei).

Sometimes I (with my family and friends) will collect our own angelfishes & butterflyfishes at beaches of Miyazaki, southeastern Kyushu (the third largest island in Japan) in late spring to early winter. We can find the Semicircle Angelfish (Pomacanthus semicirculatus) in juvenile stage is much more common than any other spp. They can enter tidal pools at a depth of only 30 cm !

On the other hand many rare and unusual specimens have been imported to Japan that will be sold at an incredible price; the first Peppermint (Centropyge boylei) was over 12000000,- Yen. Also C. narcosis was around 800000,- Yen. It is too expensive but some rich Japanese will obtain such rarities, so dealers will deal in these (but it is almost limited to Tokyo or Osaka). The aquarist will sell it to another friend or to a shop and then the fish' price will never become cheaper. One of such cases is the blue-black phase of the Potter's Angel that was sold again at a retailer in Kyoto at a price of 1000000,- Yen some four years ago.

In case of fairy wrasse some rare species will be available at a very high price, and recently I will save money to challenge such faries instead of angelfishes.

Now you got my interesst even more! What is Centropyge abei??? I have not even heard the species name before!

I love to see where ourt fish really live and was nuts enough to see these guys in their natural habitat ... buts thats another story:
