I wish....

I wish that I had a tank to put this fish in.

I have not seen this fish offered in a long time.

It is very cool. I just read that it's difficult to adapt to non-live foods however, and dislikes bright lighting.

Hope it goes to a good home.

Thanks Tim. I like it but not sure how if it will out with my Bodianus sepiacaudus trio?

Mine wasn't aggressive towards anything that I can remember, but it was very predatory. I tried adding a 2.5" exquisite fairy wrasse, and the soap was always stalking and darting at it. I think it eventually succeeded because one day the fairy was gone, but maybe the tusk got it. Neither of them liked the fairy. The soap was only about 4" by the way, so it's not like it was stalking a bite sized fish either. I don't know how big your hogs are right now, but that might be an issue. I never got it off live foods, and there was too much competition for it in the display. Definitely quarantine it and get it used to eating before putting it in the display if you get it. Once it goes in, it's unlikely you'll be able to catch it out. Very cool fish, secretive. It hung out under overhangs and in shadowy areas in the tank, but would dart out for live food.

Thanks for the info. The hogs are 2.5-3.25" swims in the open most of the time and lighting fast to evade each others nip. I also have a 4" Marine Betta that's been in over a year. If I do decide to get it it will not be going in with the hogs as I still want wrasses down the road. QT will not be an issue as every fish goes through it till eating pellets before going into the DT.

I'm not sure it's the kind of fish you'll be able to get onto pellets, but good luck. I wish one would pop up locally again; I know a lot more now and it would likely do well. I haven't seen one in a year or two, though.

Hogs aren't as passive as fairies, but its your choice. I think it would be an awesome addition to your collection, but only if you feel that way too :)

I'm not sure why passiveness would matter though? From what I saw, it wasn't bullying the fairy; it was trying to eat it.
