I would like to share my proudest moment as a reefer

I know i have been vacant from the boards....more of a lurker actually.....but i have been steadfastly transforming my FOWLR into a reef. No corals yet....but i have the calcium(Randys 2 part) dosing system in place finally and i have found all of my non-reef safe fish new homes(this took the longest).

however....the center piece i wanted for my new reef tank was a clown/anemone. i piced up this small maroon about a week ago and got the anemone today. i put the anemone in the tank at about 4 pm and the clown started hosting about a half an hour ago. there is nothing like the feeling of watching the two beautiful creatures interact. it is without a doubt my proudest moment.

not sure why the color of these pictures is drastically different. my wife bought me a canon rebel xti for christmas and i still havent had the time to learn how to operate it.....i have a lot of motivation now.

here is a full tank shot....ive finally gotten rid of my hair algae problem and the corraline is finally building back up. sorry for the background....i have to replace it because it got messed up while fooling with the calc dosers.

here is just a funny pic i took accidentally of my 3 chromis playing follow the leader

Nice pictures Shawn, the clown and host look good together. I was just wondering, the other day, how your new tank was coming along. best thing you have done since that little guy with the alfalfa sprout, you mean. nice rock work. looks like geologically uplifting plates. its got static movement.

Beautiful BTA! Watch out though maroons can get aggressive if you get in their space when the have their nems.

yeah....i know they get labeled as semi-aggressive but i think they are more territorial than aggressive. he is already beginning to chase away the nosey chromis. i know that maroons are notorious hand biters.....cant wait :D

shawn:bum: :bum:

lol yeah I had that lovely experience with my tomato clown. My parents called her "Big Momma" got a few bites here and there haha. They key is to move your handfast if they come at it and hope it scares them back to the nem XD.

:-D awesome. I have always wanted an anemone and a clown. Keep us updated.

BTW did you see the pics of your old tank and the snowflake? Thanks again for the tank. It is working out well now even though I have not finished plumbing it.

Jon

congrats logan!, sorry it never worked out for my clown and anenome, we moved and had no internet for 4 weeks, and while in its temporary location the anenome found its way into a power head (that apperantly the wife saw it getting close to and decided it wasnt a big deal).............

My first anemone is on it's last leg. :-( I got it last week from fraggle reef and well the qt acclimation set up I had I messed up on. I have a surge strip with half my lighting plugged into with a home automation device on. Lights went out and so did the heat. :-(

If we ever do a tank tour at my place you'll have to bring that fancy camera by.

Jon

Jon, sounds like you don't have much prospect for more lighting, In-Tense or otherwise?? how has your search for more power circuit outlets gone? that house you rent in doesn't seem to have adequate power supply.

I am actually rearranging my room over the next two weeks and will be running a cord from the other part of the basement to power my tanks.

The problem was I have been running a lot of little heaters and filters on different tanks because the plumbing I had done was just dry fit. A couple nights ago I redid things with glue and have it running now. It makes me nervous taking the little heaters out of my display tanks, but it is time I trust things and start relying on just two main heaters.

Trust me I'm being too safe with power usage and everything. OCD really slows things down, but it's coming along. I'm hoping by the end of spring break, week after next, I'll be ready to show everyone what I have done and possibly have a tank tour.

Jon

Sounds like a plan Jon. Just remember, it's not rocket science. just add up the max watts of load from lights, heaters, pumps, whatever. and keep it below 1500 watts per circuit. then you should be fine if the house is wired per normal specs.

so how many watts do you have left after the re-org to run lights?
