Wow! Now THAT'S what I call live rock. I can't imagine anyone wanting nuke all that stuff with bleach. If I had rock that looked that good I would never need to bother with corals!

Wow. Nice clean, well thought out, beautifully done.

And you have sold me on this live rock. I have seen pictures before but that rock is just getting better and better.

Thanks Jill!
You have to spend some time examining the rock and pulling off as much of the bad guys as you can but so far I have to say it is so worth it. My daughter and I spent about 6 hours the first time and another 5 with the second shipment. But I am loving the results.
What I have noticed is most of the really great stuff is doing well an all the little gorilla crabs are dying off as time goes by.

I dumped my rock with a friends rocks that were mixed with local rock that had gotten from the ocean... I knew there was something in there but couldnt find it and never saw it. A year and a half after putting my rock in, I happened to pick up a rock, and out rolled this little log looking thing that was like the size of a finger, that immediatly jumped up and went from brown log, to mean fighting crab with crazy killer claws outstretched, scurrying under a rock. That crab ate so many firefish, gobies and other small fish.... It wasnt a surprise to find/see him finally but did it make my blood boil!

Good luck getting them out. Suggest to just put a crab trap in there and keep catching them! Really is great looking rock!

What kind of flooring do you have in your fish room? I was going to tile mine but I really like the looks of your setup. Seems like good material for a high traffic, moisture friendly work environment.

I ordered rock from Richard in the past as well - great stuff with an amazing amount of life on it. You do have to potentially deal with some pest hitchhikers, but in my opinion the trade off is worth it.

Very true Whenever I get worried about what is in there I walk over to the tank and after a minute or two I just forget why I was worried. I barely have anything in there beyond what came on the rock and with my order, so I can't wait to start adding corals and fish.
I will be transitioning corals from my current 65 to the frag tank once I get it cleaned out. Then the fish go in QT (not sure why I am bothering since I had 3 hitchhiker fish so the reason to QT is shot anyway) for a few weeks.

A rock blenny and what I initially id'd as dottybacks but looking more like they might be a type of wrasse common in the gulf. The wrasse aren't reef safe though. They have been behaving so far though. As cool as it is, it screws up my plan to only put in fish that have gone through a qt.
