Ice Fire eye candy...

How's the polyp extension on your echinata SDguy? I don't get much at all... it's still growing tho, I moved it down a little bit so just a tad less light and less flow

Plenty at night. Just so so during the day. Seems very content otherwise...growing/encrusting well.

My icefire colony from 3 years ago. RIP

No way, you've been sniffing too much acro slime :D

I believe he's referring to the one behind and to the left of the "Hawkins"

Haha, he could be. Then again, that frag to the left doesn't look like it's a IceFire to me either, not the same coralite structure. Nice color though.

Why don't you think it's a hoek? Color is funky, but polyps and coralites and growth tips look close, IMO. At least compared to one I had...

Just to add to the mix. You sure this is a hoek and not a papillare

My Alex's blue Matrix (a papillare) as a comparison (sorry for the bad pic. It is a relatively small piece and not in the best area for pics)

That looks more like a Hawkins than a IceFire

I was talking about the frag to the left. That Hawkins looking coral was a maricultured piece. The small frag to the left was sold to me as a Aquascene enchinata from a known source about 4 years ago. Doesn't mean it actually was though :o

Here is my old colony that I propagated from for a while. I eventually lost the colony after a tank crash when I went on vacation.

I never new the ice fire was suppose to have a green body. Makes the ORA blue iris look like a lot cheaper alternative with similar structure, color, and better growth rate

Blue Iris is actually more expensive than the echinata nowadays. I always heard the blue iris was a slooooow grower and the the stricture is way different But I'm comparing frags not large colonies.

Never saw the iris in person, just the pics of the frag remind me of frags of this. I could be totally wrong. I do know that I would take a frag of SDGuy's echinata over any of these anyday! That thing is awesome
