IceCap 660 Wire Harness / IceCap 430 Wire Harness

I have a few questions.
#1 Is the wire harness for the IceCap 660 the same as IceCap 430 ?

#2 If you use the IceCap 660 to run only 12feet of VHO light will it over drive the bulb?

"660 can operate up to 16 lamp feet with a total of 464 rated lamp watts"

i know you cant wire up the bulbs the same from the 660/430 but are the harness the same ?

I am 99.9 percent sure the harnesses are different. I would contact Icecap to be sure.

#2 Icecap ballasts overdrive lamps no matter what the configuration 2,3,or 4 lamps. HTH

and i'm gonna go with the harnesses being the same - the 430 just does not use a couple of the wires, i think. (i have both, but i'm at work and can't really remeber)

Im not sure about the harnesses but there is an important distinction here between the 430 and 660 regarding Overdriving the lamps.

First of all, if you are talking about T12 VHO ... the 110 watt lamps for the 4 footers for example. It doesnt matter whether you run one 2 foot lamp or the maximum of 4 totaling 12 or 16 feet of T12 VHO's, they will run one or 4 at the rated wattage of the lamp. One 4 foot VHO runs at 110 watts or 4 VHO's run at 110 watts or any amount in between, on either the 430 or 660 ballast.

IF YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT T5 ... the 430 only slightly overdrives T5 flourescents. The 660 is the Icecap ballast you need to overdrive T5. Then the same applies ... using 4 foot 54 watt T5 for example ... whether you run one lamp of four lamps, the 660 will overdrive them at 80 watts each. There may be a slight difference in wattage but right around 80 watts each no matter how many you run (up to 4 lamps and a max of 16 feet of course).

I asked Icecap this specific question a while back and the response was that the 430 only slightly overdrives HO T5.
