Hi,

I have 1-660 and 1-430 and I would like to control/Dim them with a ProfiLux, would this be possible?

Thank you!

Hi
If they ahve a 1 - 10Volt interface built into them and have dimmable functionality then the answer is yes.

ProfiLux can control any devise that has 1-10 Volt control channel interfaces.

Hmmm....I would have to see if this is available on my ballasts, not really sure. But I do know that IceCap sells a dimmer for them, so they should?

Thanks, I'll look into it!

depends what type of dimmer they employ.

The basic rule what you are looking for on the ballast is a control line port with two connections

Con 1 = 1 Volt
Con 2 = 10 Volt

They say that the only "authorized" dimmer is the Blueline dimmer. I am going through their installation instructions trying to figure out which cables in the secondary harness are used for dimming. I think I'm getting close.

Maybe this could be useful for those Icecap/Profilux users out there.

OK. here is what I've found out...

There is a secondary Molex type connector on Icecap Ballasts, this is used to connect to the Blueline Dimmers. One could buy a replacement dimmer harness for the 750 solar dimmer / ballast (http://www.championlighting.com/product.php?productid=195003&cat=377&page=1) and splice the cables in order to connect them to the EVG-AP-2F Dimmable interface.

The cables in question are:

1 - Jump RED from the dimmer harness to RED in the Ballast harness
2 - Jump ORANGE from the dimmer harness to ORANGE in the Ballast harness
3 - Jump White from the dimmer harness to White in the Ballast harness

I'm guessing that these 3 new connections then could be connected to the EVG-AP-2F for control.

Here is the PDF on the wiring connections... http://www.bluelineaquatics.com/manuals/SOLAR750.pdf

I think this could work!

Let me know if anyone out there can try it, as I don't have my ProfiLux unit yet...but SOON!

Ive been trying to figure this out for awhile. The problem is that Ice Cap has been absolutely horrible. They will not just tell you what connections are what on the Ballast. I know that 660 ballast are dimable by the 4 pin Molex on the side, The problem is Icecap will not tell which 2 are the 1-10 volt interfaces.
The explanation I got from Icecap is that they don't want me to burn down my house and the only Authorized dimmer is theres. They said the reason is that there dimmer will shut off the ballast if it detects an open circuit.

If you figure it out please post your findings. Im afraid to try and get the wires mixed up.

Difficult one for us to answer really as we can not give advise on third pary equipment.

All i can say is with OSRAM ballasts there are just 2 wires not 3, with dimming control there is a 1 volt line and a 10 volt line that is it nothing else.

As Icecap would also state quite correctly AT YOUR OWN RISK!
