IceCap battery backup

This may be a dumb question.

I currently have an AC return pump and a couple MP10QD's. I'm thinking of switching to a Waveline DC return pump, and in the event of a power outage, using an IceCap battery backup to power the Waveline and one MP10.

Will this work? Google is not finding me an answer since the Ecotech battery backup used to actually be branded IceCap, so it's confusing.

Secondly, I do not have a controller. If this will work, does the battery realize power is off and take over accordingly?

Ok so I have used these Belkin units that are designed for AT&T wireless routers / modems. Its a really easy setup and works great on my MP10's Im sure something similar could be made for the Waveline DC Pump too.
