Y'all are going to think i am nuts but I suspect all additions including algae. Anything that is at a fish store to me is suspect. The organism may not carry the offending pathogen but the water that comes with it sure might.
I have done 98 days fallow and had ich remain in the tank.
Did it remain, or did you let it slip back in on the fish?
It remained. I removed every fish and placed them in QT #1 until treated with TTM. After treating them with TTM and place them in QT #2. All my fish (including a PBT and Achilles) were all in QT #2 together for a least 60 days without signs or symptoms of ich. Three weeks after reintroducing the fish to the DT, ich showed up on the PBT. Nothing new was added to the DT during fallow period or the 3 weeks following the fallow period until the ich show up again on my PBT.
I am a Nurse and work in surgery as a circulator and First assist to a heart surgeon. I am meticulous with sterility at work and when doing TTM. Cross contamination did not happen.
I am waiting for snorvich's reply . . . he seems to really know his stuff on TTM and crypto.
Thanks for the info snorvich. And I hope everything turns for the better on your medical issues.
