I have always wondered this over the 20 plus years of dealing with ich..aka ick.
Assumption.: If a freshwater dip kills ick..ich..
then if we purchase a new fish...we acclimate to tank display water... then do a fresh dip for lets say five minuites.. put in separate container for an hour that has that Display water .. then dip again in fresh water for lets say five min.. this presumes kill of ick..
then why still need QT of 28 plus days to kill ick? . I am only referring to ick here... There are many other reasons to put a fish through QT...
I ask this as some of my fish in QT they cant or will not handle copper.. but I QT them anyways to watch or perhaps do a prazi treatment.. or just to fatten them up..
when I am about to add a fish to the DT after a month or so in QT .. I do a safe guard and put them through a Fresh water dip twice for five minutes..
So does a dip in fresh water twice for five min kill any possible chance of Ick on the new fish?
