ICH, Cupramine, Salinity & Temp?

I am using the garlic xtreme and the fish seem to love it. I am not convinced it "soaks" into the brine shimp as well so I have been dripping it on flake food to feed supplementary to them. Not to get off the topic but I checked out your tank in your signature thread, have to say it is about as slick as can be! I started my own thread about the hippo tang, if anyone helps on that subject it may help you out as well:

if your at week w/ copper, and everyone is clear except a few scars on the hippo, and they are all eating well.... keep the course, they will be fine
 
Okay (years ago a friend had mcg labelled as mg - very bad results!)

1ml = 1,000mg.

So you would be looking at 0.025 ml.

That seems a tiny amount.
 
I keep coming up with needing to dose 1.27ml of Cupramine 3x to bring 81 gal to .25mg/L

i am hesitant to start until i get some confirmation on those #'s

How do you come up with that?
All I know is that, mathematically, what Steve posted earlier is correct leading to 3 doses of 25.55mg.
And then that mg convert at a rate of 1,000mg is equal to 1g which in turn is equal to 1ml.
Thus 25.55mg would be 0.02555ml.
That said, a quarter of a milliliter seems a tiny amount.
 
my math.. on my fingers and toes...

I want to end up with HALF of their recommended dosage. 81 gal
81 gal = 306.6 L / 40 L = 7.665 their recommended dosage would be 7.665mL
cut that in half = 3.83
then i want to dose 3x to bring them up slowly x .33 = 1.264mL

1.264mL 3x should bring 81 gal to a reading of .25mg/L

where have i gone amuck?
 
the recommended dose is 1mL per 40 Ltrs to their .50mg/L
81 gal is 306.6 ltr. divide by 40 = 7.665 would be 7.665 mL at full dose?
 
I'm not sure I follow you. First, 0.25 mg/L is below the therapeutic dosage. Minimum therapeutic dosage for Cupramine is 0.35 mg/L. I usually treat at 0.40 mg/L for four weeks, ramped up over 5 days. If I were doing this with your setup, I would would dose a total of 12.34 ml (0.381 * 0.4 * 81). Divided by 5, that gives 2.47 ml per day. I always test after each dosage to make sure I'm not overdosing.

1ml per 40l doesn't fit into a mg/l calculation... but yes, if they recommend that then you would be looking at 1.27ml for each dose.

This is not true. mL is a volume measurement and mg is a mass measurement. This is the equivalent of saying that 1 gallon= 1 pound. FALSE!

what do you dose when you do water changes?
 
Am I understanding the directions correctly?
is 1ml per 40L the HALF dose to .5 ?
Duah... i think i have found the confusion in the the attic!
 
Your "water change" water should be predosed at the current level in the tank.

let alone medication that can be really bad if OD'd... and add that im not crystal clear on the math.

Yes, I know. It's not false though. One can convert mass measurements into liquid measurements via a basic forumal of 1,000mg per ml. It's formed via displacement and is in no way similar to gallon/pound. One should know that liquids have variable weights - most especially in this hobby.
 
First, weight does not equal mass. Grams are units for mass.

Also I believe that you are confusing mass with density. I stand by my comment that mL does not equal mg.
