I put a new fish into my DT that now is showing signs of Ich. my plan is to move all fish (4) to QT tank for 73 days while i wait for Ich to die out in DT. Since they will be in QT for so long what is the cheapest light i can get away with and once i have treated them should i put in some rocks to help with filtration since they will need to be in there for so long?
2 clown fish
1 damsel
1 yellow tang ( yellow tang is the new edition with Ich)

thx!

no light needed really, they can get by with the ambient room light.

What is going to be your method for treating the ich on the fish? TTM? or medication like Cupramine? either way you won't need the rocks until later but really I wouldn't add any rocks at all, especially if they are from your DT and trying to do TTM because that will just defeat the treatment. If using medication then the rock will just soak up the meds and become ineffective. A simple hang on filter should suffice along with some PVC pipes for hiding.

I'm going through the same thing right now, not from a new addition though. My ich outbreak was brought on by stress...long story.

You need to do TTM to rid the fish of Ick. Takes 12 days and two tanks or containers, I use 10 gallon tanks. After TTM then into a cycled QT tank for the remaining 61 days.

IMHO, TTM is so much less stressful for the fish that I wouldn't even consider any copper based medication.
