I have a Kole tang and a diamond goby in QT and am prophylactically treating for ich with hyposalinity. For a variety or reasons, it took me 5 days rather than 48 hours to get the tank down to 1.009. Does anyone know if this will affect the efficacy?
I guess I'm not sure if the slower drop allows the parasite to adapt (i.e. is it simply osmotic shock that kills the parasite,) or if it doesn't matter.
Reading some of Snorvich's posts, it sounds like the hyposalinity works on the tomont stage, which will occur anywhere from 4-8 days after putting a fish in QT, so I'm guessing it doesn't matter.
On the plus side, neither seems to have been bothered by the drop at all.
