The problem is that treatments that are effective for ich will probably also cause a lot of die off on your rock/in your sandbed which may heavily pollute the water. If you choose a copper based med there is a good chance your rock and sandbed will absorb some of the copper as well which may cause problems maintaining a therapeutic level of medication and make that rock unsafe for use with inverts in the future. I have been told that Cupramine does not bond like this as much, but I have never tried it myself.
If at all possible I would move the fish to another tank and treat there instead. If I absolutely had to treat in the tank I would put all the rock in a holding tank and then treat. Just my opinion though.
