The last fish in my tank has died by ich. I won't add any fish until all ichs starve so my 24*12*14 tank are clean-of-ich.

IMO, 10 weeks minimum. You'll find other opinions. Because there is no "magic time" for all ich cysts to release the new batch...the longer the better. If you don't use a QT with all new fish, you'll go through this again. Ich is very treatable and shouldn't wipe out a tank. Why didn't you treat the parasite?

Good question. I'd like to set QT tank but my wife won't allow it. I showed your reply to my wife and expect your reply move her.

QT is a must-have in this hobby. like what MrTusk said, you'll definitely go through this again if you don't QT all new fish from now on.

For some strange reason women don't seem to appreciate these "picking up a chick in a bar" analogies. It's more of a guy thing. For example, right now I'm looking for a new job and I'm applying everywhere. My wife doesn't understand why I'm being so aggressive and spreading myself out like this. She thinks I should be more selective. So I told her, "It's like going into a bar with 20 chicks inside and hitting on every single one. Odds are at least 1 is going to agree to go home with you." She just shook her head and replied, "You're disgusting!"

I don't get it. What did I say wrong!?!

LOL i guess some women feel offended cuz they think all guys think about is sex? i don't know. my gf cracked up when i told her that analogy so i guess she isn't one of them.

i think applying everywhere is the right thing to do. of course, the job has to be somewhat relevant to what you want to do.

LOL. The only thing my wife allowed after she read this article is "not to add a fish at least 10 weeks". My revenge to ich is getting more brutal.

BTW, what is minimum spec. for QT. 12"cube with hang-on filter and heater would be enough?

Since your DT is only 17g, i'm assuming that you're not keeping any fish that would get larger than 4" as an adult. in that case, a small 10g QT is enough. all you need is a HOB filter, heater, and an airstone. QT doesn't need to be fancy.
