Ich Resistant Fish

Hello,
Does anyone here know of, or own any fish which they know are resistant to ich?

I have an ich problem in my tank, and the only two fish I have that have survived for months without problems have been my diamond watchman goby, and my firefish goby.

Anyone know of any others?

Thanks!

well i don't know if this is true for everyone, but when i have had ich problems the only fish that would make it where.....eels, damsles, 6-line wrasse, chromis, my fuzzy dwarf lion, and my stronger fish that i've had for a long time. this is just from my experiance.

Mandarins are quite resistant.
If you'll move your two fish into a QT tank for six weeks, treat them for ich (using copper or hyposalinity), leave your display empty for the 6 weeks, and then treat or QT any future new additions, YOU WILL NEVER HAVE ICH AGAIN.

All fish can become resistant to ich if they are healthy enough as in breeding condition and the tank conditions are correct.
Luck also comes in here as fish build up a resistance to the paracite if they are exposed to it while they are healthy and live through it. There has not been an outbreak of ich in my tank in over 25 years.
Good luck.

A well conditioned, properly quarantined fish that is placed in pristine water without stressful tank mates, and fed properly is the best ich resistant fish. Yes there are some fish that are so called "magnets" for ich, i.e. powder blue tangs. Ich is a normal part of a fishes life just like having a cold for you and I is. My black tang gets a spot every month and half or so and it disappears within hours of seeing it. Doing all things I said above should help to avoid having the problem of ich becoming a an issue. Regards, Tim

IME, I seen ICH prone fishes and more ICH resistant fishes as below:

ICH Prone (scratches and visible spots on skin): Powder Blue/Brown Tang, Royal Grammas, Coral Beauty

Kinda Ich Prone: (scratches itself on rock, but no visible spot on skin): Mimic Tang, Sailfin Tang, Firefish, Lawnmower blenny.

Ich 'Resistant/Immune' (while other fish showed ICH, these fishes looked fine. No spots or scratching over a months period): Maroon Clown, B&W Clown.

The above is my experience in my tank in the past.

I can also attest to mandarins getting ich. IME while you may not see it ich just does not go away. It is living at sub clinical levels in the gills. A stress event like temp spike can cause an outbreak. Only way for this outbreak to occur is if the ich is still reproducing in the tank. Healthy fish as Paul said can build up partial immunities.

Mandarins have a thick slime coat that helps prevent them from contracting ich, but they can still be carriers.

dont forget there is black and white ick....

my tang never got the white stuff but picks up the black every so often.....make sure to get a cleaner shrimp should gobble that stuff up hehe
