Ich...TT method...I'm in trouble...

Guys I'm in trouble...

First of all...forgive me for post the same question in another topic (TT sticky) but I'm really concerned

Let me explain my situation...

I'm starting a new tank in my new house...I will put the water inside the tank in this weekend. My actual DT has no corals (F.O) and is working like a qt at the moment.
I had a ich outbreak yesterday (I have 3 fishes = hypotang, regalangel and flamehawk)...I have serious intentions to try the TT method, BUT I would use biomedia (syporax) already cycled in my actual DT to speed up my cycle in new tank. After reading the TT thread I'm pretty sure that this isn't a good idea. So my only option right now are:

1- Don't use TT...and put cooper in my actual DT(qt)?
2- Bring my DT(qt) to a down SG (hypo)?
3- Make a TT protocol...put the fishes after 12 days in my new reef and control amonia??? (the new tank have 600liters and my fishes are smal-mediun)

My hipo is the only fish with salt spots...but she stopped to eat today!!!
Iḿ really concerned.

Help me please...What should I do????????????

Sorry for my terrible english

Don't apologize for your English, its a lot better than my Portuguese. Usually, ammonia isn't a problem with TT---the fish aren't in the same water long enough. So cycling TT tanks isn't necessary. If you have two tanks large enough to handle the 3 fish, then TT will work. but they can't go back into the DT for 9+ weeks. Copper works well, especially Cupramine (brand name). But, with LR and substrate in the DT, using copper would be impossible. You just can't properly monitor copper in a tank with LR and the LR would absorb copper; making keeping any corals impossible for quite a while. You really need a QT to treat with copper; I'd get one ASAP. The 3 fish weren't quarantined before going into your DT, I'll bet.

Hi Tuskfish thank you for answer me...

Yes... these fishes don't passed by a qt (lesson learned).

Do you think that is possible to put 3 fishes (medium size) in a 12-15 day old 150 gallons tank??? Just monitoring my amonia (using Prime and WC if necessary).

I'm asking this because if it's possible I will follow this protocol:

1- Put new media (syporax) in my new F.O aquariun
2- Start the TT method
3- After 12 days of TT treatment and 12 days of cycling time put the 3 fishes in my new F.O tank
4- Monitoring amônia...(use of prime and WC if necessary)

Could work???

Thank you again

You should be able to keep 3 fish in the 150 with WCs and Prime until your cycle takes over. What are you going to use for the 2nd tank if you use tank transfer? It can't be their present tank---that needs to be fishless for 9+ weeks. You could also treat the fish with Cupramine copper in the new 150. WCs, with the same amount of copper should handle ammonia. Never use Prime (or similar products) with copper (it becomes very toxic) and most ammonia tests don't work with cupramine. The stick-on badges do work, though. Cycled media from their present tank can be used in the QT, copper will kill any ich in the media. Don't use the media if you use TT.

Hey Tusk...

Everything will be new in my 150 gallon tank (sand, rocks, water). I will disinfect all my equipments and syporax prior to put inside the new one (bleach 1:10).
I'm most inclined to use TT method because I read many times that large angel (regal in my case) don't tolerate copper treatments very well. Do you agree with this statement?

Thank's

With TT, each tank needs to be used twice, if you're using 2 tanks. They will have to be emptied and sterilized between times. I sure wouldn't want LR, substrate, etc. in the tanks for the process. The idea is to leave various stages of ich behind and these parasites live in the rock, etc. I assume you've read Snorvich's sticky:http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1996525

Just my opinion: I don't think Regal Angels are unusually sensitive to Cupramine. But copper is toxic and some fish just don't make it. IMO, sometimes this is the copper, sometimes the parasite itself, sometimes a combination. If you searched; you could find someone who thought every group of fish was copper-sensitive. I've treated two Regals, no problem; but who knows? With Cupramine, there are some precautions that reduce risk.
When practical, I think TT is the best way to go with ich. If you chose copper, get back and I'll give you some of the little things that help.

Hey Tusk...

To TT treatment I will use 2 little tanks 10-15 gallons that I already have here.

I don't want to use cupramine this time...but...I really like to listen your tips and experience about this kind of treatment.

Thank you so much!
