Ick Still

Yes, I am sure it is ick. I have been fighting ick for almost 8 months now. Its a tang tank.

I don't have a digital that can take pictures at a very focus'd level.

Sure it would help, but if it is a pic that doesn't capture the ick then it wouldn't help.

And I posted not because I want to debate if it is ick or not, but what could be the cause or why it is still there. Even if I post a pic and you say "oh ya its ick" that doesn't help my situation.

use uv sterilizer 24 hrs. a day and maintain temp around 78 to 82. that will take care of ich. it will take some weeks for ich to completely eleminated by uv sterilizer. UV sterilizer must be minimum of 18 watts.

I know you don't want to debate wether its ick or not but if you have used a refractometer and had the SG at 1.009 for 3 months, there is about a 2% chance that what you are dealing with is ich. If using a refractometer , and checking a couple times a day, you should be able to keep the SG steady at 1.009.
There are other parasites that can live through Hypo and appear as tiny white dots. Hypo will usually slow the reproduction of parasites such as Flukes but it will not eradicate it

Battling ich for 8 months you said seems very unlikey.

Its probably normal markings. At least borrow a good camera.

Bttrflygrl

Do you have any examples of the other parasites that show up as white dots? Flukes show up as white dots??

Thanks.

Battling ich for 8 months you said seems very unlikey.

Prior to December, ick swarmed in and wiped out most fish, but the month is unknown at the moment since well its past a year.

December, ick first appeared again on a purple tang and regal angel.

1/2/06 Inquired about Enaly with Mobert via pm. Enaly is an ozone generator

Bttrflygrl posted on this thread when I was asking about advice on QT, ick, etc when the ick kept fading in and out.

Regal angel has been affected hard

2/7/06 http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=770731

Ick resurfaced after ozone was turned off for two days, came back with a vengence and wiped out most of my friends :(

2/19/06 hypo treatment started

2/22/06 kirstenk msgs me about the GEN-x ozone when I was having trouble with the intense smell. I went with Gen-x over enaly

2/25/06 http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=785228

I started reading that thread and use Lee's suggestion/guidelines on proper feeding.

2/27/06 The first time I ever msged Leebca.

2/28/06 The following day I asked Leebca (via pm) about ick and when should the 4-8 week countdown starts during hypo.

3/26/06

4/14/06 I msged Lee again about Coppersafe as an alternative if hypo didn't work.

7/1/06 See this thread

So 55semireef, that is roughly around 7-8 month. Thus yes, it is very likely I have been fighting ick for 7-8 month.

True, BTTRFLYGRL. It could be something other than ick. I am going to wait it out and see if the powder blue tang gets cover again. I actually kept the SG around 1.008-1.009.

But if it is ick, I must be unlucky lol.
