ick

so i've noticed pretty much all my fish have ick. the spots seem to go away during the day, but when i first turn the light on there present. It's been slowly progressing worse to the point were the spots don't go away anymore on my tang.

the tank is a reef tank, so is there anyway short of breaking the tank down and pulling out the rocks and removing the fish to treat them? any reef safe forms of ich removal?

if it comes to it, i guess i know how i'm spending my weekend. Thanx in advance...

No reef safe treatment! only way is get fish out of tank and move to QT for 6 weeks. Definitly worth getting a fish trap to get your fish out. I have one that you are more than welcome to use no charge just pay shipping. Let me know!!

no short cuts for ick hypo in a qt. I speak from experience and the water keeper thread is the answer. everyone survived, but I am still in therapy. Good luck and happy fishing

if left untreated, will ick kill the fish?
Maybe yes, maybe no.

It all depends on how many newly hatched Ich find the fish/host, where exactly they burrow into the fish, and if the exit wound when it leaves becomes infected.

I have tried using various types of "reef safe" treatments and NONE work. I am lucky and have not lost any fish because of it, but I am getting things set to take out all fish from my tank and leave it fallow for 1-2 months and treat the fish in hypo during that time.

What some people miss about this is that you cannot add a fish to the DT for 6 months that has not be properly treated with hypo-salinity and are ICH free!

I think rort means six weeks.
