in my tank there is:
fairy wrasse
5 narssius snails
1 feather duster
3 sexy shrimp

now about my feather duster it seems to have detached himself is this a bad thing? his feathery part is floating around while is worm part is in the same spot.

Not cyanobacteria. You would see that on your sandbed or rock.

It looks lke (assuming you have no corals in the tank) the mucous web from a vermitid worm/snail. See if you can follow the trail to a calcerous tube in the liverock.

As for the featherduster... They sometimes detach their crown when they are stressed. Give it time, and it will grow a new one, but consider where it's at. Is it in a calm area? Are your water paramters good?

thank you for responding lizz

i knew it wasnt cyanobacteria.

it seems to be floating around not coing from anywehre really..i tried pulling it out and it is definitely like mucousy (if thats even a word)

i think i will be moving where my feather duster is. this is my first time having one can you tell. so what do i do with the crown that is floating around? will it die?

My guess is that it's definitley from a vermitid worm. They can be tricky to see sometimes.

You can just take the crown out and chuck it, as far as I know. Be careful when you move the duster and don't pinch too hard or damage the worm's tube.

My liverock will do that sometimes when I do a waterchange or move it out of the water for awhile. I think its small rock critters that are mad about something.
