Very new reefer here. I got a 29 gallon aquarium for free a while ago. After quite a bit of research mostly done on this forum, I decided to give it a whirl for myself. I'm already addicted and planning a 120g or so once I've learned a few lessons with this small one.
Anyways, on to the point. I picked up my first 2 corals at LFS. They were about to close so I just kind of said I want these. I planned getting 1 faster growing and 1 slower growing with more color. Based on the basic research I did, these seemed okay to start with.
Could you help me ID them? Or what type? Any basic information?
lol
Everything looks very white and washed out with my awful phone camera. Hopefully you get the idea though. If not I can try to get a better picture
When I got them, the one on the top looked about the same. So I'll have to wait to see how it reacts. The mushroom was not bumpy like that at all, and had more of a slight fluorescent green glow to it. The bad cell phone camera makes everything look really washed out. It still has somewhat of a glow, but lost a lot of color and shriveled before I even got it home, and dismounted from its little piece of rock.. Its been changing shapes quite a bit since I got it in the tank about 4-5 days ago..but overall I think its slowly improving lol..It's in kind of a strange place because I just let it go where it ended up, which happens to be the opposite side of the tank of where i put it... Im not sure if its just stuck there? or if it actually wants to be there lol
Questions
What are they?
When I put the mushroom in the tank it was already shriveled mush worse than now, but is there a reason for the bumps? When I moved it a while ago, those bumps went inverted like big pores...i feel like its trying to tell me something :hmm5:
Is the mushroom in a reasonable place at the very bottom of the aquarium? should i put it more in the shade? It always seemed to drift away when i put it there
The one on top isnt very high up either, maybe 7 inches from the bottom, should it be closer to the light?
Tank Info
29 Gallon
2x31w t5ho 10k + actinic (62w total)
2 power heads
some live sand/rock
No skimmer, but everything I've been testing seems to be staying alright so far probably due to small/often water changes..and not over feeding
Running for about 2-3 months total
Thanks a lot for any help
