i was told this may be a mojano, but from the research that i've done, i'm not convinced.

it's about the size of a nickel or quarter. tentacles are green, "body"/mouth are bright green.

the base/foot is an inch long (high), and it stands up kind of like a golf tee, if you can picture that. it's about the width of a pencil.

here's a pic...thanks for your help.

It's actually pretty nice looking, rather than those bland, evil Aiptasia, I don't see too much mojano, so I can't say if it is, but if it were mine, id keep it until it go too big or too close to corals, then i'd kalk it.

I'm afraid that if you let it grow, you'll only have more work. These things don't grow, they multiply. So instead of having one big one, you'll have a gazillion little ones all throughout the tank. Kill it before it spreads.

Ahhh yes, i was thinking about that after I posted that message, silly me... these things are like locusts.

Exactly.

it seems that all signs point to the pet cemetary for my little friend, but i still have a question or two.

if mojano, will it split like a bta, or will another one just appear out of the blue one day? like a stork!

this one hasn't moved an inch since it's been in the tank, so will i know if it multiplies right away?

to kill it...what methods do you suggest? never had to kill anything in the tank before, so you might have to be a little descriptive, sorry 'bout that.

javeo, aside from a slight difference in color, that looks just like it. mine isn't quite as big either, i guess. that's the first one that i've seen that stands on a pedistal like that.

honestly, all the pics i've seen of aptasia and mojano anems don't look much like what i see in my tank.

Well it is not aptasia or majano, but they are pests in my tank, and I can't get rid of them.

Here is how it starts. (yours is more green, but I think they are basically the same)

Then they reproduce. I don't know if they split or frag or what

Some can get as big as silver dollars, but most stay small.

Then they start to infringe on the stuff you like.

In the words of Bob Marley, "Kill it before it grows".
