I have a tiny organism living on my live rock that has abour 3-4 inch long hair like candy cane striped (red and white) arms that venture from a smal hole to retrieve food. It then slowly pulls them back in the hole and cleans them off. Every few hours it spews what looks like waste, from the hole. There are about 5 or 6 of these long arms.

Any ideas?

Any way you can provide a picture? These arms could be from worms, brittle stars, sea cucumbers, anemones, peanut worms, and a bunch of other things.

I wish somehow I could get a picture. But they are thinner than hair! My digital camera doesn't pick it up. It's agravating. Since I can't see the main body, all I see is striped hairs spanding the length of the live rock and pulling food back into the hole. I only have one star in the tank...brittle star. No cucumbers. I suppose it could be a worm of some sort, just trying to figure it out. I am beating my head on a wall over this one. I have been scouring the web looking for answers for almost a week.

ugh. grrrrr.
