I'd like some more information about the types of lighting available...

Personally, I live in NJ, and we have the highest price per kilowatt-hour in the country. I would hate to pay the electric bill for MH lights for a FOWLR tank.

You should really look at T5 if cost is a concern... in the long run they'll be cheaper to run.

I have T5s and have 2 large clams and 2 anemones... (got to get rid of one of each soon).

Why do you have to get rid of them? Are they not doing well with the t5s or something?

T5s do have an actinic bulb (true actinic)

There are a number of color variations (check reef geek.com or my web site, and you can get a feel for them).

I'm surprised that no one said anything about the heat generated by these various lights. It has to be dealt with. I didn't even consider MH because of the heat. I now have PC and T5 and the PC give off way more heat than the T5 but the T5 even though of considerably lower wattage appear much brighter. Before spending the money keep reading so you make an informed decision. Isn't the lighting the most expensive item after the tank and stand?
