Korrine

You could get a ticket!!
Possible? It'd be awesome to watch them grow up and change. There are people around me w/big tanks even if they don't want it I'm only 2.5 hrs from MAJOR metropolitan area where I'm sure someone would love to buy him/her off me especially since it'll already be eating and acclimated to tank life.

Personally I wouldn't do it.

I did it with a Blue Face angel and was able to watch it change from its juvi colors to adult. First, it is a huge pain in the butt to get them out of the tank. Second, you will become attached to it and not want to sell it. Third, there is no guarantee that you will be able to sell it.

Not any harder than catching an Arabian dottyback in my 29g :) I drained the tank some and took out a couple rocks(including having to remove coral and placing the coral and rock in a rubbermaid and 5g bucket and put it back together when the fish was caught). I'm not afraid to catch it since I'll have larger rocks that are easier to remove....maybe. I'd probably try to lead it into a clear container or ice cream bucket.

If I can't sell it to a saltwater enthusiast, I'm sure a lfs would take it for credit. They could sell those for $$$.

I'm just curious as to if it's ok for the fish. Since you accomplished this, I imagine it would be ok for the fish :)

I wouldn't do it, but thats also based on the fact no LFS around me would be eager to take it off my hands, because for the most part anything 'large' or 'x-large' doesn't seem to sell very fast. If you knew for a fact a LFS would love to take one off your hands then obviously its a different situation.

I'll check with a few and let them know my intentions. See what the head dude says at each one. I don't think it'd be a problem in Omaha, Ne. I guess I'll find out.

I voted nay, because I believe it won't grow as fast or to its potential when kept in a small tank long term. I think doing water changes or keeping fish in bigger tanks allows them to grow much faster.

Check with Paradise Cove Pets, they might be interested.

^My thoughts exactly. Thanks :)

Hey btw, I used to have family that lived on a lake in Papillion! They live in Omaha now.

I see no problem with as long as you get a small juvi and have either another tank to put him in when he grows bigger or someone who wants to buy it. Of course I am not one who follows all the rules either.

A pet store just said, "No problem, Korrine. We do it all the time." So I will have somewhere for it to go. Now to decide if I want to do it or not.

Stocklist may eventually be:

Snowflake eel
Radiant wrasse
Melanurus wrasse
fu manchu lionfish
Flame angel
possibly a marine betta...still reading about this one.
