Hello everyone. A quick question, are there any type of sps corals that I could grow under pc lights. I have a current 4 foot dual fixture with 10000k and 50/50 actinics.

There are a few lower light SPS that might grow under PC, but I can't think of any I would suggest. If you skimp on the lighting, it's going to make your task that much more difficult. If you're serious about keeping SPS, you really want to set yourself up for success, and a big part of that is having the proper equipment.

If you were going to try anything, I would put a pink monti very close to the top of the tank. It would likely survive, but not thrive.

I had some Montipora capricornis under PC but they were growing slowly...

You might want to try those...

Good Luck

+1 on the pink/red monti cap. I had them under VHO's and they did very well but are doing even better now under MH's. They are a deep water hardy sps and should do just fine with proper flow and placed high in your tank.

I agree if you are going to try anything, you should go with the cap as suggested. I wouldn't recommend any SPS under PC's though due to the fact that they will never really thrive in those lighting conditions, just get by enough to live...sorta

you may try a pink birdsnest, I think it would do well under PC lighting. Of course anything is bad news, as you'll soon want different species which will require more lighting.

I tried a pink birdsnest under pc's before. Didn't work to well. The birdsnest turned brown/tan and the polyps receded to only being on the tips of the new growth areas.

I finally put it under t-5's, it took a couple of months to color up again, then all of the lost polyps returned and new growth continued. Wasn't a pretty sight under the pc's.

I agree with IslandCrow, better off to set yourself up for success in the beginning.

You might try a Leptoseris. They look sorta like a green Monti and can grow in very dim lighting. Sometimes a little hard to find, though.
